«Intellectuals Displaced from fascist Italy - When the 'brains on the move' are women. Conversation with Piera Levi Montalcini», 21 October 2022, Laboratorio multimediale dell'Università di Firenze.
Florence, 21 October 2022, Faculty of Agriculture, Palazzina Reale, piazzale delle Cascine 18, 5:30pm: "Quando i cervelli in fuga sono donne. Storie di scienziate, studiose e artiste che andarono a cercare lavoro all'estero ieri e oggi", part of the cycle on women's legacy, "L'eredità delle donne". Speakers include: Piera Levi Montalcini, Patrizia Guarnieri, and Italian scholars who now work abroad. The Dean will be present. All welcome: young persons, displaced or not, repatriates, parents, loved ones, and firends of all kinds. At 38 years old, Rita still was not in a permanent position. However, she was good. Thus, she decided to accept a position at Washington University in St Louis. She planned to stay away from home for six months at maximum; she ended up spending 30 years away. Rita Levi Montalcini was the only Italian woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize in sciences, but during the Regime, and after, many worthy scholars moved abroad. Since 2009, the increase in the percentage of expatriation is larger among women. Brain drain is not a new phenomenon in Italy, but rather a forgotten history.
